Well, here he is the poor kitty. He ripped the other gauze off so I went to the pet supply store and got that red stuff. Norbert hates it because he can't get it off no matter how hard he tries. I also saturated his paw in Vetericyn. If you have a pet I recommend you keep this stuff in the house. Two years ago Norbert had a puncture wound. It got infected really fast over night and a blogger told me about it. At the time I was taking care of my mom and not working and was down to my last few dollars so I had no money to take him to the vet. My other option was surrendering him and of course I didn't want to do that because I love the beastie so much. I put Vetericyn on the would and there was a noticeable change by that night. It had totally cleared up within a couple of days. The reason you want to keep it in the house is because often injuries can be treated at home, like this burn. Anyway, Norbert is grumpy because he hates the red thing but he is not showing any signs of pain and is eating and drinking  I just re-wrapped his paw and it is not showing any sign of infection. I did a Google search and it seems a lot of cats hop onto hot things and singe their paws, sometimes seriously. Norbert is lucky this is just a minor burn.

Another Monday. Today is a good day for a nap. Norbert is napping beside me and my husband is on his computer. And you may not believe me but I had a premonition last night about the shootings. There is no way I can explain it but I just knew there would be a mass shooting today. What's up with that?

  4. I've not read the news yet. Mass shootings are always very sad. Why do people do it?

  5. I hope Norbert gets used to the red bandage and stops trying to get it off. I can understand it bothering him--cats don't like anything to be different! Hope he heals quickly.

I am so sad about another mass shooting.

  6. I am glad that Norbert is doing ok. And sad and mad about the shootings. When will it ever stop? Will it ever stop?

  7. Aww, poor Norbert.

I haven't heard of any shootings, off to look at the news.

  8. O no, I haven't read the news yet. How terrible.

Poor Norbert; he reminds me of Ming here: http://bikbikroro.blogspot.sg/2012/05/on-cats-and-bites.html I don't know how snug the red thing is, or how often you check it, but do check it often (see my last point right at the bottom of that link) -- those little paws can swell up fast.

Have a lovely, peaceful week, dear friend :)

  9. I bet somewhere deep down inside he is grateful for everything that you do for him. And I bet he secretly adores you! Thanks for the info about Vetericyn. I should get some of that and keep it handy around the house.

  10. Awww poor baby. My cats are forever jumping up on counters. I'm kind of worried about their safety at the new place where the stove is a flat top. They're not used to that and I worry about burns. Maybe I ought to get some of this stuff, eh?

  12. I started having dreams of things before they happened when I was a kid. Several of the women on my mother's side of the family do that.

I had violent nightmares all last night.

Glad Norbert is better! He looks pretty OK to me.

  13. I don't know what the hell is going on here lately with the violence and mass shootings and everything else. *sigh* It breaks my heart, and it gets to be too much, so I can't think about it, and so I just concentrate on what I know is the goodness and kindness in people...which brings me to Norbert. How come he looks like an angry pirate in this pic? He would totally have a piece of you if he could! :)

  14. Bag Balm is also a wonderful treatment for injuries in animals.

I was a hostage in a bank robbery in 1984. The morning of the robbery I saw a masked man in my mirror walk behind me as I was getting ready for work. I turned quickly and of course there was no one. Then there he was with a gun to my head by noon that same day.

    Yes, I believe your premonition.

  15. Poor Norbert!
Mass shootings in the US? Go figure. Freaky that you felt it coming on!

  16. Definitely going to have to check out Vetericyn - With four dogs and two cats you can never be too prepared.

As for your premonition I absolutely believe you. Never ignore your feelings. I'm trying to learn to trust mine more. Usually it's only after the fact that I realize just how accurate my initial feelings were...

  17. Call it women's intuition, I guess. I have not yet seen this Veterycin. I might check it when I drop by the pet store I really love. Thanks for sharing it.

And yes, I understand the feeling of not having money.
