I Made It!

My plans for getting away came close to falling apart this afternoon. There was a miscommunication with family but I am here and everything worked out.

First, on the ride up here the radio gods were smiling on me. More often than not the radio ends up getting turned off but there were some great songs playing today. I stopped and got myself a large iced cappuccino made with whole cream. Yum! And then when I got here I was welcomed to this!

Only it is even more adorable in person. It actually made me gasp when I drove up. And to add to the perfection I was greeted by a Calico cat. My god, did the owners train her to do that? Aren't Calicos the most homey of cats? My room is the one on the right. I have not yet explored the little tower at the top of the house. And my room! Oh, it is so perfect!

I am currently sitting on this bed. When I got into the room it was bright and sunny and a little on the warm side but the owners have a wee fan that I turned on and not the room is perfect.

This is the bathroom. Tonight I am going to fill that tub to the top and waste water. Usually I conserve but I am going to enjoy that tub!

This is the rest of the room. See how bright and sunny it is? There is also a little cart with a coffee machine. In the other corner there is a T.V. that I won't be watching. (Netflix, maybe but not T.V.) In the other corner there is a C.D. player. I peeked at the discs but right now I just want quiet. Here are a few more pictures.

For the next three nights I will be here. As I said, lots of thinking to do. Lately I feel so stagnant and stuck. It is time to think about plans for my physical, emotional, spiritual, mental and social wellness. My goal for these three days is to try to come up with at least one plan for each of these parts of me. Right now my mind is just so...jumbled all the time. I never have time just to be quiet and think. I am hoping that after this little retreat I will have some direction and be able to move forward in all areas of my life. By no means am I expecting big changes but it would be nice to step out of the muck and mire.

That is it for now. I am going to go out and find something to eat. Check back often over the next three days as I am intending to blog what I come up with.

  4. What an amazingly gorgeous place. The peaceful surroundings and the eye candy are exactly what you need to relax and re-energize. It will clear the clutter from your mind and you'll be able to think clearly. I hope you find the answers that you need.

I love calico cats. My older daughter adopted one from our local humane society when she was staying with us last year. It's a female and her name is Daeny. She is the sweetest, friendliest cat I've ever known, and I fell in love with her while she was here. My daughter took her with her to Montreal when she returned home and they take care of one another.

  13. Oh, it looks soooooo nice! Love the room and all the flowers on the front verandah. I had a clawfoot tub like that when I lived in Winnipeg. They are divine for soaking in!

  14. Was this house torn from a book page. Seriously, it looks breath taking. And I thought they only existed in series like Gilmore Girls. LOL

  16. What a charming place. I am actually a bit envious, I would love to go on a retreat by myself.

I always picture a log cabin in the woods, a good book and a couple of bottles of wine.

  19. This place looks so restorative and welcoming, inside and out. Make sure you include smaller "achievable goals" in your list. That's the best way to gather some momentum. I'm very proud of you, for getting this far.
