Today in my undisclosed location I spoke with a Buddhist poet. He invited me to a Buddhist meditation tomorrow in a place called the Upper Realm. I think I shall go. I also met with an itty bitty woman that is no bigger than a minute but contained this huge spirit. I spoke with her for 3 hours. She shared much insight into my grief and my guilt at having grief in the first place. I will share the why of this when I return as my battery is down to 25%
I will tell you I bought a knitted hat, a top to soothe my inner hippy and a raincoat for my niece. Yay because they were all thrifted bargains I did buy two new books, one by David Sedaris. and another by Pema Chodeon. That is it. OK that is a lie. I also bought three poetry books. I love books.
Anyway, it is late at my undisclosed location and I am tired. I will go meditate with some Buddhists tomorrow even though I am a Quaker. Which is about as close as you can get and it doesn't matter too much.. Or at all. Love. That is what it is about. Love and learning and acceptance. As you know I believe we need to open our hearts and minds and listen to what other people believe and why. "Come Let Us Reason Together". Today it would probably say, "Let's go get a coffee and talk". So if someday any of you are in my neck of the woods and you feel like getting together for a coffee to reason together let me know.

I hope to get out to the Island next summer, fingers crossed. I have a sister in Ladysmith. I think you're right, love is what it is about. Love and learning and acceptance.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your retreat. It sounds lovely.
I'm back Barbara and I have much to catch up with all the blogs. Your photo with the lighthouse brought back memories of the lighthouses in Cape Cod that I adored.
ReplyDeleteIf I was near (?) I would share a cup of coffee with a chat too.
Love IS what it's all about. I hope you are soaked in it, bathed in it, lit with it, lifted by it.
ReplyDeleteAmen.
LOVE xxxx
ReplyDeleteGood, good thoughts -- all of them.
ReplyDeleteSo glad for this time of refreshing for you! Take some deep breaths and rest!
ReplyDeleteNothing at all is coincidental. Or as my Tibetan Buddhist teacher would say "nothing is co-accidental. I am so glad you discovered Pema. She is wonderful. I'm wondering if Gampo Abbey is somewhere near you. That is her residence. My husband has done several retreats there and filmed a couple of her teachings. Meditation is just the beginning. If it resonates with you at all and you ontinue it on your own, it will change your life. Next post - tell us how it went, okay?

Your location seems nice with the pic! I forget a lot of things too
ReplyDeleteSo glad you had some friends with you today who were able to shoulder some of the burden you have been carrying. It is healing to be able to talk about the sadness you are feeling.
