The problem with having children is they make you sick. My son is recovering but now I am sick. My throat hurts and I am short of breath. All I want to do is sleep and eat chicken noodle soup. There is a good chance my head is in a vice but I can't be sure.
For a laugh go here. Does anyone else remember Martin Short and his bit on synchronized swimming? He was a wearing a life jacket. "I am not that strong of a swimmer." Ha! If you have no idea what I am talking about you can watch the classic clip here.
And speaking of things that make me laugh here are some of my favourite Sesame Street clips. Back in the good old days.
This one makes me realize why so many in my generation suffer from depression. It is just sad.
Does anyone remember The Ladybug Picnic? This was my favourite when I was little.
I sang to this to my kids when they were little. I still do sometimes. And I do the actions!
I sing this one to my kids too.
And as a commenter said, I remember the list 35 years later.
And who created this? No doubt drugs were involved.
However, I get lost all the time and use his piece of advice to find my way home.
Don't blame me if you have this little ditty in your head all day. It is adorable. But correct me if I am wrong but I think that is The Ungrateful Bastard.
Ok, that is all.

i hope you start feeling better very soon!
ReplyDeletesesame street... oh wow. i watched that and Mr. Rogers when i was a kid. i think Mr. Rogers was a perv LOL so is Barney btw
i never could get ashley interested in sesame street... she just didn't like it... she was more of a care bear, smurf kinda girl...
remember the electric company? now that show was an acid trip
I've never seen that Martin Short synchro swimming skit but you know, it's right on! What a silly sport it is!
ReplyDeleteLovely trip down memory lane seeing the 2 girls with the dollhouse and the 2 kittens who go on a spree. Haven't seen that clip since Christ was a boy.
Feel better soon!
feel better, dear birdie.
ReplyDeleteI was a Sesame Street junkie when I was a kid, so I remember (and still love) all those clips! My kids weren't fans of the show, which was a bummer. Hope you're feeling better soon.
ReplyDeleteI hope you get better soon too.
ReplyDeleteI know kids are supposed to be great but I don't want to have any. My sister says it isn't normal and maybe I would regret it someday but I've already passed the phase of wanting to have children. Do you think I will regret not having any?
Huggies and Cheese,
Haopee
Poor you. I hope you're on the mend soon. Thanks to SNL, for the past several decades, I have never been able to see synchronized swimming without thinking of that scene. Gotta love Martin Short.
ReplyDeleteI feel I need to respond to Sherri's comment. Sherri, I understand that it was probably an off-the-cuff remark but I don't believe that there has been a human being on the face of this earth who was a finer person than Fred Rogers. Read up about him. He was a very kind, giving, genuine person. And certainly not a perv. We should all aspire to be like him.
I never watched Sesame Street - it wasn't on yet when I was really little. My kids didn't like it. I and they watched Mr. Dressup and they also watched Fred Penner and Under the Umbrella Tree.
ReplyDeleteWe're dropping like flies here too!

Cheers!

I just saw this post, and I love love LOVE that Martin Short/Harry Shearer skit! Now why wasn't THAT an Olympic sport this year? I know a previous commenter posted about the Electric Company and I have to second that: did you get that when you were growing up? It definitely was trippy!

I missed Sesame Street and other kid TV 'cause I'm an old fart, and grew up before them. I DO remember Crusader Rabbit, but didn't get a lot of the jokes until years later! I was on the synchronized swimming team in high school, but we never wore make up or those incredible suits! I love it and always will, but, I agree... maybe freeze frame shots don't present it in its best light!!
ReplyDeleteohmygod, the lower case n!!!!!! who and what and why????? holy holy, no wonder we are messed up. i can't stop laughing. i love the absurdity of it!))))

THE ALLIGATOR KING!!!!! I LOVED that one! I also loved the kitties destroying the doll house, (I was a weird little kid who was an Oscar the Grouch fan and didn't care for dolls.). I'm sick too. I hate gargling with salt water and neti pots even if they do help. Here's hoping that you are feeling better than I am.
