Why does time go so much faster when we get older? At least my days off seem to go fast. I really did not do much and now it is time to go back to work. All I did today was rake a few leaves, do some laundry and drive my kids back and forth/to and fro. It is a life of total excitement.

Today I found this app that takes away the blue light on your computer screen after sunset. Blue light is what keeps us awake and it is best to avoid it but not many of us turn off our computers the recommended two hours before bedtime. I am using the app now and it is much easier on the eyes. http://justgetflux.com

I think I have an abnormally large head because every set of headphones I use hurt. It is like having my head in a vice with padding.

Last night I found the man that I believe to be my great grandfather. He arrived at Ellis Island in 1912. He was born in Russia in 1896. The problem with Russia is very few records exist because they were destroyed by the communist regime. I am lucky to have found anything. about him at all. When he arrived in America at the age of 16 he changed his name from Alexander to Harry. At 25, he got my 17 year old great grandmother pregnant. They had 7 children then he left her alone to raise them. And that was that. He died in 1968.

The last two days we have had a visiting cat from down the street. He comes and eats our cats food, has a nap then leaves for home again. It is a friendly little cat. Over the last two years we have had several neighbourhood cats come up our back stairs and meow at the slider to be let in. My question is how do they know? Do the neighbourhood cats have a bi-annual conference to discuss where to go when it rains? Do they talk about who gives out cat treats for free? Clean litter box? Warm fireplaces? I think they must because we get a lot of cats that show up at our door. And yes, they have access to all the above. We have trouble saying no to cats.

  1. Treats? Clean litter box? Warm fireplace? Food? Who can blame them, I'd be there too! :D

  2. I am pretty certain that there is a secret code sign which says 'Cat suckers live here'. We too get visitors for food, comfort and cannot resist them.

  3. I'm telling you, they have some kind of network!

  4. Hahaha...yes, I can just picture a cat gathering where they discuss humans. I think they'd mention staying away from my place. I put some food out for the birds and chipmunks, so wandering cats are not welcome around here. Whenever I see one attempting to go in my backyard, I scare it away. I barely ever see cats on our property. They must think I'm some kind of psycho. And how do they all know that? Meetings. They meet. And tell each other things.

  5. Cats have apps for their computers too but they have nothing to do with blue light.

  6. You're lucky because the cats in my neighborhood are a bunch of damn thugs. They only come here to taunt, torture and pummel Kamir. One day, I will tie Molly up out front and we'll teach those ruffians!

I'm stalled out on my genealogy on a couple of branches. Some I have traced back to the 1600's. Some I can't get past two generations. It's maniacal.

  7. We get cats from all over but Maisie (our smallest cat) sees them off in no uncertain terms. Shame she can't do the same with bully Luna,

    I'll never understand them!

  8. Happy Thanksgiving. By the way, I know the feeling of being unable to say no to cats ;-)

  9. Your grandpa's life story is interesting indeed.
About cats? I cannot say no either.
    Take care of yourself.
