Sooie!

This is "Suey". She is a ceramic pig. She was given to me by my aunt about 40 years ago. She used to have long fake eyelashes that my cousin brazenly ripped off because she wanted to wear them.  I do not like her or want her but I have never had the courage to get rid of her. Why? Because my aunt's name is on the bottom and her name is very, very unusual (I think my grandma invented it herself) and if anyone ever saw Suey in a thrift store my aunt would find out. Incidentally, Suey is a "piggy" bank. You put her money in the pocket. She is about a foot and a half tall.
I don't have the heart to throw her in the garbage so she has followed me over the years in many moves then gets promptly put into storage. The other day I was getting some items from our shed and I found her. Fuck, I said. I brought her into the house because I knew she would finally have a use after all these years. A blog post. Maybe I should have a blog "giveaway" but she would probably cost a fortune to ship and I highly doubt anyone would want her. Poor pig.

  1. No offense, but I'd throw her away. Your aunt probably has no memory of giving her to you anyway.

  2. I think Suey needs to have a little "accident." Like if the Ungrateful Bastard jumped up on a high shelf where she is standing and knocks her off onto the hard, hard floor. Too many broken pieces to possibly glue back together! Besides, they're never the same once glued.

HRH has helped me with such disposals many times over the years.

  3. Poor pig.
At least you don’t have to fetch her out and put her in a prominent position when auntie comes to visit.

40 years? That’s a long time to worry about a china pig.

  4. Have Ungrateful Bastard set up a hit on Suey.
Do it gangster style. A pop to the back of the head with a baseball bat or golf club.

  5. Yup. I have had items like that. And the house and I felt better when they 'moved on'...

  7. Piggy Suey sat on a wall...
Piggy Suey had a great fall...

    Well, you get the idea.

Accidents happen all the time to unfortunate little ceramic pieces.

  8. OMG you need to do a monthly feature on this pig! Seriously! Take her places and take her picture. Get her some new eyelashes at the mall!

Send her to me. I'd pay for that.

  9. My life has been decorated up and down by crafters whose hearts are huge. I've had everything from the ceramic Christmas tree to the bleach bottle Santa to crocheted dolly toilet paper cover. I have always tried to cherish the heart.

Maybe this gem could work out as a garden gnome until the elements catch up with her!

  10. O dear. Poor pig. She even looks embarrassed about the difficulty she's causing you, or perhaps even just existing. I don't know if it's my weirdness speaking here, but I'd keep her -- I feel an attachment to such things.

  11. I think she needs to be sold. There are similar things over here in the UK. They were issued by a savings bank back in the 1960s/70s and they sell well these days. See here:

  12. If she doesn't hold any good energy for you then I say ... back to the storage shed! Or maybe you can sell her or do a giveaway. You can probably get an approximate cost for mailing at your local post office and it might be more reasonable than you think. My son recently sold something on eBay and got additional money for the shipping from the customer.
Yes, it did make for an interesting blog post!

  13. Hello Birdie,
I love this little pig...she's so cute! What a great piece to pass down to your kids.
Thanks for stopping by my blog. I use several sites for my genealogy ...Ancestry, Family tree maker, roots web, the Internet, family, find a grave... There are so many data sites. I've been digging for years and haven't found the first pop up yet. Lol!
I need to blog on my other blogs soon...getting way behind.
