I rounded up my son's grade 12 class and measured them for their graduation gowns. Do you know how incredibly interesting it is to sit and just listen to a bunch of 17 and 18 year olds talk to one another when they don't know you are listening? It is one thing to have them in the car but a totally different story when you are just sitting in the corner. A couple of girls had just got back from a spare block where they had been at the mall and bought a goldfish. They are going to "co-parent" it. (Their words, not mine.) Next week when they get some more money they are going to buy "furniture" for his home. They named the fish Gus. I can't tell you how glad that they are measured. I put the order through online this evening. It was causing me so much anxiety. I was born responsible but I don't like when that many people are relying on me to get things right and on such an important occasion. Whoever said, "Don't sweat the small stuff. PS- It is all small stuff." did not have the responsibility of making sure a graduating class got the proper graduation gowns in the right sizes/colours/styles and with the proper accessories. I am glad that particular part of it is over. It was causing me way too much stress. When I volunteered for the position I was in a better head space. Anyway, it is done and I am glad.
And oh, I love this time of the year when the clocks have changed! It is 7:15 and still light out. I want to bound and leap around in the back yard.
"Just let your heart lead and your feet will follow, and we'll bound and leap like a gentle breeze. Bound and leap like a zephyr set free. Bound, and, of course, leap."
Can't wait to see your son's grad picture....you must be busting ♥️
ReplyDeleteCheers!
Linda :o)
Milo and Otis was JUST what I needed this afternoon. Thank you so much.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't see whatever it is that you posted below the words (must be an iPad thing?) but I KNEW THE WORDS! I just watched that movie not long ago with my little grandson, who giggled all the way through.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, this is your first child graduating. It all seems huge and emotional and almost insurmountable. Once the second one goes, you'll be an old pro and it will be a totally different experience, more empty-nesty.
For CBT to work, you have to slow down and learn the steps. You might feel like rushing now because you're in a better place than you were, but you are learning tools and tricks to help you if you ever feel that helpless again. Keep up the good work!!
I feel the same way about yoga as you do about CBT. People have recommended it to me and Mr. RK said, "You'd be in there saying, 'Hurry up!'"
ReplyDeleteYou sound a bit more positive and cheerful!
ReplyDeleteI've just been to a blog where she was saying how much she hated the time change! Ha!
Love their posh accents!
ReplyDeleteGood for you getting all the measuring done.
Yes.. boys conversations can be an eye opener!
Good job on getting them all measure up. I'm like you, I don't have much patience and to me, listening to a bunch of 17-18 years old... would have pretty much stretch it to it's limits :) but I'm old LOL
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you're taking the CBT class. I have fallen into a deep, black hole myself. Yesterday at work I couldn't stop crying. I sat with a friend and she helped me, not sure how, but I finally stopped crying. I It was my class day yesterday so after lunch I came back to class with red eyes and a red nose, but I made it through the day. Went for a good walk after work and I see a doctor tomorrow. Hopefully get some help.
ReplyDeleteI hear the light enter your voice. I am so glad.
ReplyDeleteYou sound happy, Birdie.
ReplyDeleteThese kids are funny. Have a lovely Wednesday.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to seeing photos of your handiwork. I'm sure they'll be wonderful.
ReplyDeleteOne Hundred Percent agree with you about the clock change. The CBT class sounds good. I'm VERY skeptical about the conversations of teenagers being at all interesting. But I can definitely understand the anxiety regarding being the ordering master. Yikes.
ReplyDeleteI just commented this morning on how dark it was and I supposed the time change was coming soon. Duh, never even noticed it happened, I just went with what the phone time said and thought it was odd the clocks in the house and car didn't match. It sounds like you got the measurements done in enough time that if there are any problems they can be corrected. I'm sure it's going to be fine.
ReplyDeleteJust stopping by to say hello, Birdie. I like the blog makeover/design. cognitive therapy should be good. I haven't blogged in a while because I have much going on.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE Milo and Otis--one of my all-time favorites! I need to watch it again.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the video you share of Milo from the Milo and Otis movie. That was one of our favorite when we were younger. Have a wonderful rest of your weekend.
