I am back. Bet you didn't know I was gone did you? My husband and I went away for the night. My husband got a deal on Island Daily Deals to go here. And oh, it was so nice. It is a 5-star resort with me a 2 1/2 star girl. The room had a huge jetted soaker tub which I filled up. Usually I don't fill tubs because I am always conscious of wasting water.
Aside - The obese Robin is back and sitting in one of our trees right now. How does he stand on those legs? Every evening at about this time he (she?) flies his fat ass and sits on a sturdy branch and just sits there for about 30 minutes. I know if I move and try to get a picture he will fly away so you just have to take my word for it. This is one fat Robin.
Anyway...we went away for the night. The only problem was the room was so hot! It had heated floors which are lovely but I had to turn them off in the middle of the night. Peri-menopause and heated floors don't mix. Other than the heat everything was perfect. We went out for Thai food for dinner here. I had Gaeng Kari Gai which is a yellow curry. It was spicy, just how I like it.
We are home again and I am tired and probably should go put clean sheets on the bed and clean the bathroom. We thought the restoration company would have finished up this week but we have not heard from them. It will have been a month this week.
The obese robin has flown and so must I.
So nice to have a little overnight getaway. I'm glad you had a good time.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see that obese robin. Is this a visitor from a previous year?
The obese robin stands on his legs in much the same way I do - no choice.
ReplyDeleteLove that you got a brief time out.
Hugs.
I bet that robin is full of eggs. Nice place to stay, lucky girl. Glad you enjoyed a lovely night with your husband. I used to live in Victoria when I was going to UVic. It's a beautiful city.
ReplyDeleteNice place! I'm glad you had chance to get away for a night. Even short breaks help.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure the robin is just 'fluffed up' against the cold. (That's my excuse!)
Sounds like you enjoyed yourself. Glad to hear it.
ReplyDeleteHeated floors? I've never even heard of heated floors. Does that make me 1.5 stars? Sounds nice. The fat robin aside made me laugh. I can't stop thinking of an out-of-shape Burt Ward perched in your tree.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great time, and it looks like a beautiful place. I checked out that link and I am in awe! Little getaways are always fun.
ReplyDeleteOh that peri-menopause... I'm in that stage right now, and 'heat' has become a fear factor!
Good for you, always a great idea to take a brake from every day life...
ReplyDeleteFor THE issue... what are you doing out west to fatten your Robin? Maybe you could switch to light seeding and also, send the cat out, it will give your robin some exercices hahaha
Oh you make me jealous. Now I think I shall take a short trip away from home. Maybe I will go to the Downstream Casino Resort for one night and stay in a lovely room, dine on delicious food and try not to gamble away my life savings. When I leave I will resemble the fat robin:) Why no picture of the robin, by the way?
ReplyDeleteI'm going to have to see how much that place is for our upcoming trip to Victoria!
ReplyDeleteWe have heated floors in our basement which I love! It makes it so cozy down there. Our last basement required 88 cords of wood to be burned before it warmed up, so this is a lovely treat.
Hope your restoration is complete soon!
Glad you had a good time. You sound very chirpy, just like the fat Robin.
ReplyDeleteMy dear human friend,
ReplyDeleteIt's heartening to read you went away with your husband and had such a nice time. A pawsitive distraction, as I would bark. You seem upbeat, my kind human. This makes me smile. Ever seen a doggy smile. I shall come over and see if I can make friends with that obese robin :)
Pawsitive wishes,
Penny the Jack Russell dog and modest internet superstar! :)
Wow! What a beautiful resort. I went to the site they have and then emailed it to David so he could see it. We are looking for a place for our 15th anniversary coming up in a couple of years. I want to go someplace nice while we still can.
ReplyDeleteSomebody loves Birdie...♥️
ReplyDeleteGlad you had fun and a good meal.
ReplyDeleteThe place looks lovely. Couldn't figure out why Brentwood Bay sounded familiar and then I looked at the map. Butchart Gardens.
ReplyDeleteOh man. Now I want to go there!
ReplyDeleteI have always wondered how some animals get so fat when they live in the same neighborhoods as normal sized ones?
