I went to my gynecologist appointment this afternoon and I got my surgery date. I go in March 5. It is only a 1 or 2 night stay but 5 - 6 week recovery. If you have not been reading my blog for long it is surgery for putting my female parts back where they belong
.

Two surgeries at once. Aren't I a lucky gal?
Did you grow up watching Andy Griffith? Today, "Gomer Pyle" (Jim Nabors) married his life-partner of almost 40 years. I can't imagine being told that I could not have legally married my husband. I am happy that he and his partner have been given this right.
I'm not sure whether I should be thankful that you have a date with your surgeon or be scared that I will probably have to undergo something like that when I grow up.
ReplyDeleteI do pray that everything will go as planned and recovery will be filled with the ungrateful bastard's vocal purrs and head bonks.
Huggies and Cheese,
Haopee
The things us women have to go through. Mother Nature is a real bitch sometimes, she makes you waddle around for months, causes you excruciating pain AND then leaves your body wrecked.
ReplyDeleteI had something similar done two years before the major stuff so I'm glad the procedures are done without major surgery (there are days when I wish I'd left well alone the scar is so painful.)
It's going to be a long haul, but now you know the start date you can look forward to when it'll be done and sorted.
ReplyDeleteI make it April 9. That's three days after my birthday and I don't want anyone to be ill on my birthday so you're going to be totally well by Midnight on April 5 OK?
I pray that you do well in both surgeries!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you in regards to marriage; for me its not about same sex or different sex marriage is just about the right to marry the person that you want to.
Holy cow you go away for a few months, come back and all of a sudden someone is having surgeries! Ugh. And here I am with numb fingers in a splint thingie refusing to see the doctor again because I am such a coward. You get major points in the One Brave Chic-a-dee department from me!
ReplyDeleteGlad you get to do it in one fell swoop.
ReplyDeleteAnd I agree with you on the marriage thing. Unbelievable that only a few of our states have done this - but the tide is turning.
I hope your surgery goes well...two at once?? maybe that is best. 40 years is a long time
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the surgery. I hope it goes well and that you'll be on the mend much sooner than you think.
ReplyDeleteAs far as Jim Nabors and his partner's marriage... all I can say is... Shazaaammm! Or maybe golllllyyyyy!
Yay for the surgery!! Everyone's bits have a right to be just where they belong.
ReplyDeleteSo good luck!!!
I hope all goes well. Be kind to yourself after you get home, and use texts or skype to get the kids to bring you whatever you need. That part worked well for me. I was surprised how slow and flat my healing curve was, I thought it would be a simple thing. I should know by now that nothing is ever simple in this life. What helped me emotionally was the online support group hystersisters where everyone checked in to mark progress. It's petty, but it made me feel better that people were having a harder time than me, I felt a little less sorry for myself. Maybe there is a group like that for your procedures?
ReplyDeleteI am unhappy that the hysterectomy made me gain 10 pounds immediately, and no signs of slowing down, but I am so glad I had my bladder put back where it belongs. It's the little things...
I clicked on that link a few days ago and then of course, I thought I had the same issue, which I'm pretty sure I don't, I just am such a dork.
ReplyDeleteI hope the surgery goes well. If they say six weeks, MILK it for exactly six weeks. Get every last drop out of it! LOL!
