I have been up all night. And I love it. My new job is 8 p.m to 8 a.m. and it is bringing some happiness to my life. I have never been a morning person. My whole life I have had a very difficult time getting up to the point of panic attacks. I have always said I do not fit the 9 - 5 world. I don't sleep well at night but sleep very well during the day. Why? I do not know. I have worked in community health for 12 years now and while everyone is vying for the morning and day shifts I quite happily am working nights.
I am working in a facility right now. It makes me glad that I can do something to make a persons last days on earth better. It is hard to see someone get closer to death when it is human nature to want to sustain life but death is a part of life. It is.
I had a first time experience last night. It was one of those "I have to tell Mom about that" then I remembered she is dead. I was going to tell her something I had remembered. It was strange.
OK, I am off to bed.
Sounds like you have the perfect job with the best hours imaginable for you. Getting good sleep, no matter the time of day/night makes a lot of difference. I'm glad for you. :)
ReplyDeleteYou know, some people are put here on earth to keep watch at night while the rest of us sleep. I do believe that. Thank-you for being one of them. And, you know- yourself.
ReplyDeleteGuardian angel of the night....and there you are. Your mom was there when you wanted to share...
ReplyDeleteI'm more of a night person I think. Sometimes it's insomnia, but sometimes I just enjoy being awake in the wee hours.
ReplyDeleteI believe that during your experience you mom was there.
Sweet dreams...
i LOVED working nights... i did it for 20+ years... only in the past 3 years have i been working on days, since i moved in with coach... but there are times (almost daily) when i really really miss the peace of the night...
ReplyDeleteThere are some that like working at nights...I might be that way but I have never had to...yes death is part of life.
ReplyDeleteIt is painful when you want to tell Mom something
I still talk to my Dad - even though he's been gone 12 years. Don't stop telling her things just because you can't see her. She's still listening.
ReplyDeleteGreat news that your new work fits so well with your body clock, you night owl you. I agree with the others, that your Mum was there prompting you to tell her what was on your mind and that you can still tell her things(although right now it must hurt to be reminded!) Blessings. x
ReplyDeleteI say you can still share stories and things with your mom even though her body is physically dead. Her spirit is very much ALIVE!!! Be well, Ashley
ReplyDeleteHappy to read you are finding some happiness.
ReplyDeleteI am a night person as well. As hard as I try, I understand the stress of trying to force myself to live the day life when all my energy and productivity happens at night.
Sending hope that you will continue to find peace.
Guardian angel of the night. So beautiful Ms. Moon and Ellen.I've worked in Hospice and it is a blessing to be there for such an intimate time in another's life.
ReplyDeleteWhy do you think you still can't share these experiences and moments with your mom? Share with her. She's there for you whenever you need her.
Birdie, when I saw your blog title I thought you were not sleeping at all, but I was happy to read that you're up because of work. Yippeeee.
