That One Pound Sounds Nice Now!

1/4 of a pound.  4 ounces. .113 of a kilogram.  That is all I am down this week.  Bah.  I will say I am feeling great.  Even though I am not even down five pounds yet my clothes are just a teeny bit looser.  Today I rode my bike to the office and home then to my TOPS meeting then home.  Both times I loathed peddling uphill and loved coasting downhill.  Everyday this week I tracked my food.  Everyday I ate lots of fruits and vegetables and whole grains so I am proud of myself.  When I spoke to a dietician this week I felt a lot better about the direction I am going.  Even if I do not lose 50 pounds in one year I am heading in the right direction by choosing healthier foods.  Let's face it, there are a lot of people out there that weigh a healthy weight but are not at all healthy.  The goal for me is to stop eating mindlessly and to control emotional eating.  I need to try to incorporate more fruits and vegetables into my diet during the fall and winter when they are harder to come by.  I need to do this.  I have been overweight for far too long!

Congrats! You lost something~that is what matters! You may be surprised to know that until the age of 50 I WAS ANOREXIC!!! Then I gained weight and am considered over weight by 30#! I really don't care what they say is healthy all I know is for the first time in my life "I Feel Well"! That is why I love "eat right for your type" although I am slowly losing weight the book describes the weight loss as toxins eliminated from your system..this must be done before any real weight will come off..so don't be discouraged!!!! Your system is cleansing itself and it takes time!!
In the long run you will be healthier although you may not lose the weight you wish..your body should slow down and or stop losing when it feels well..that is my ideal weight..don't care what the models look like..I was "Twiggy" the one everyone envied for years and little did they know I felt like HELL, with no energy etc...
    Keep Up The GREAT Work!

  3. This is a journey I am starting for myself. I am encouraged by success stories like yours, the eat well and exercise as opposed to the lose 1/2 a stone each week nonsense.
You rock. And hopefully I will soon be rocking with you.

  4. I find that when my diet is more filled with the good (for me) stuff, I am less interested in the sugars, the fats. I am not sure why this is.
But I think that the physical component of changing can actually help change the emotional.
    I am proud of you.

  7. I agree with everything everyone else has already said. I have a sister in law that is rail thin...well, she doesn't eat, smokes and drinks coffee non-stop. We'd all be thin if we did that!

Better to be healthy and mindful and a little squishy, in my opinion. :)

  8. Sounds like you are doing good, slow and steady wins the race and that is very true for weight loss. Each lb lost gets you a little closer. Be kind to yourself and keep noticing how much better you feel. You'll get there. Sounds very healthy with you - miss my bike! x

  9. Every effort you go to in order to be a healthier person is a step in the right direction. Even if you don't lose a lot of weight at first, if you are putting better food in your mouth then it's a good thing. Health isn't just about weight.

  10. DOWN is better than up!! I don't care if it's ONE GRAM, down is better than up!!!

I started a second blog called DIETING FOR DAD a few months ago; it chronicles my current progress!

Good luck with your efforts! Remember nothing tastes as good as thin feels! (I read that somewhere) :)
