What About a Video Post?

I am still having a pretty shitty day.  Got up early to go to work.  By the time I was off I was at the point of not being able to breathe.  Anxiety.  Waves of depression. I drove to Hospice where I got the most lovely Reiki treatment by a woman that my mom used to baby-sit!  (She now does Reiki on my mom as well. She is a Reiki master and healer.  I sobbed as she rubbed my back and let me cry.  I was barely able to talk as I squeaked out my woes.  Her healing hands calmed me so I was at a point where I could accept Reiki.  She also told me about Sea Salt Lamps and told me that they would help me with sleep and my nightmares. (I also went to my doctor yesterday and he recommended me to a sleep clinic.  I have been having problems with sleep for years so I hope I get some results that will help.) I swear I am becoming one of those people that I used to think were New Age weirdos.  Reiki, rock salt lamps?  I regret all the years I did not believe in all the energy that the Earth has to help us.
Anyway, I am very tired. It is damn hot and the humidity is at 80%.  The cats are near dead and sleeping in front of a little fan I set up for them.  Do you think they are grateful?  Bastards. I need to turn this hot lap top off. It is too HOT.

PS- I am thinking of doing a video post!

PSS- I would like to find the loser who invented bras.  I am taking mine off now.  I hate it!

  1. sleep clinics, salt lamps, oh yeah been there done that baby got the t-shirt -
We had to do all of the above plus some when Philosopher was having night terrors, and this 'new age weirdo' is still struggling coming to terms with the cause of the night terrors .. .. ..
All the very best honey xxx

  2. I just use Benedryl. Works for me. For sleep, at least.
When you find the bra-inventor, kick him once for me.

  3. Hi Birdie, I enjoyed your post as I am also a big believer in Reiki and a practitioner And I have one of those salt lights you mentioned! You are either going New Age or just plain Very Cool! I am glad the treatment helped you to feel better.
I have done video posts and I would definitely recommend it!! There is something about recording and watching oneself that is very rewarding and therapeutic.
    Total agreement on the bra!
All the best, stay calm, healing light to you!:) Amy

  4. So sorry you have so much stress. It hurts the body in so many ways.

By the way, some of us hate bras but can't do without them. Going without one actually makes me hotter. Yikes!

  5. Today I am battling allergies, a migraine and PMS all while packing for a weekend camping trip. Your description of your massage instantly made me jealous. I wish I had time to hunt one down this morning. I am in need.

We have two of those rock salt lamps. I'm sorry to say they never did anything for our house. Well, other than provide soothing light for my migraine days. They are currently in the basement. My husband turns them on when he's working down there.

One of the top five pleasurable moments in my life was the first time I was able to wear a tank top with no bra after my bilateral mastectomy. I hate bras with a passion but they are an evil necessity for some.

  6. Reiki is *great* for depression and anxiety! I'm thinking about getting some training as well. Salt lamps... I've heard some good things about them but don't really know a lot! Well, except for the fact that some of them are amazing looking!

One thing I do know about is bras! ;) Back when I was a more "normal" size, I used to loathe them, too. Horrible maneuvers to get those back hooks into place, underwires suddenly popping out of their assigned places and poking me (usually during work or class when I couldn't escape!), argh! Although I have super-duper scary supportive ones for certain outfits, I primarily wear what I call "comfy bras" which are simple black cotton, kind of like sports bras with hooks in the front, which I get from Just My Size. If the weather's really oppressive, or I'm just in the mood for dressing like a bum, I wear my shelf-bra tops. Not the most supportive things in the world, but they get the job done. ;) I also kind of like the "Ahh Bra" but if you're, ahem, very well endowed, this may not be the most supportive choice ever (though it is quite comfortable).

  7. I am all about sports bras or no bras in the summer! Lol. I hope you're feeling better and you get your sleep issues worked out. That is the WORST. I have been there. Not as bad as it was though, thank God!

  9. You do make me laugh with yoru writing Birdie, I mostly laughed at you calling the cats ungrateful bastards lol. But I'm also sorry you are feeling anxious. Great to hear that you are getting some treatments new age or otherwise. Not heard much about salt lamps but reiki - wish I could get myself some of that. At yoga last night I thought I would cry but I didn't. Just lay still and passive in the relaxation, and then strong in the positions. As for bra's. Well don't get me started on those. ;)

  10. Salt lamps are good things, I think. I used to work at a spiritual bookstore that sold them. Tons of people, from all walks of life, swore by them. They were always on in the store as well and it was always the calmest place (although there was lots of awesome stuff so its hard to tell how much calmness was generated by the lamps and how much by the big amethyst geodes and what not). I say get a salt lamp and maybe a big chunk of amethyst right by your bed.

Also what is your zodiac sign? It's weird but I have always found that people find the most calmness when they are around the element of their sign. I'm an Aquarius, so I am air and love things like chimes and bells. I could sit out side and listen to chimes ring all day. My sister is Aries, so fire. Staring at a campfire or even watching a candle burn is comforting for her. My mom is a Taurus, so earth. She loves to weed and get her hands in the dirt. She says it's like meditation. You don't have to swallow "everything" they say about this zodiac sign or that. But I have found the element of the sign is almost always rejuvenating for the person. Hope you find some peace from the anxiety and depression! It's a hard battle to fight. *hugs*

  11. Sounds like you could use a break..?
Maybe something fun and or creative?
As for the idea of a video post,
Go for it..That's called Vlogging :)

  12. Taking off the bra is part of relaxing when I get home after work. I hate it when the door-bell rings and my baggy shorts and baggy breasts have to face the friendly face of a neighborly visit. I have taken to wearing patterned tank-tops as minimal camouflage.
