So, What's New?

My GGGG Grandparents grave
Not a hell of a lot.  A neighbour came by my house and gave me about 10 new scrub tops.  They are all really nice!  I am tired of my scrubs so so new tops will make a nice change.

My daughter is going to the U.S. for 4 days this month.  I will tell you why and where after she gets back.  It is something for school and she is very excited.

I continue to work on my family tree.  Tonight I started looking for some information, got side-tracked, found something else entirely then went back to looking for the original document but completely forgot what it was I was looking for in the first place. (I know that sounds confusing but try actually doing whatever it is I was doing!)  Such is the life of anyone who does genealogy   You work on your tree until names (all the men are named Robert, William, James, John, Joseph, Matthew, Thomas or Robert) become the same. (Yes, I mentioned Robert twice.  Just seeing if you are paying attention.)   The women have a larger selection of names but they are hard to trace because they were considered to be "Mrs. Robert Smith".  Anyway, I shall forge on because I really do love doing this!  My tree is finally to the point where I am able to add birth/baptism/marriage/death certificates. This endeavour has taken me years.  Just when I think I have come to an end, something else shows up.  To get an understanding of how much work that has been put into this, between me and my (first) cousin (once removed) we have added well over 5000 relatives.
That is all for now. I am going to go watch Mary Tyler Moore. Can anyone sing the theme song without looking up the lyrics?

  3. "Who can turn the world on with her smile... Who can take a nothing day, and suddenly make it all seem worth while? Well it's you, Birdie, and you should know it! With each glance and every little movement, you show it!" LOL! My New-Age blog is on autopost, but I've technically not been logged onto Blogger for quite awhile now! I am loving your layout, it must have changed since last time I've checked in. Sounds like things are keeping you busy, so that's awesome. Be sure to let us know what's happening with your daughter, hopefully it's somethng good! :)

  4. Over 5,000 relatives? I can't even handle my immediate family!

  5. And all the women are named Mary or Anne. Maybe the occasional Catherine to shake things up.

  6. Genealogy is interesting and it can also be exhausting!
The Mary Tyler Moore theme song? No I never watched the show and I have no idea of the theme song.

  7. Wow that is a lot of family! So interesting. Sounds like a very exciting time for your daughter, I wonder what she is doing. I've never seen the Mary Tyler Moore show being from the UK and not having grown up with her. I must have a look and a listen.

  8. Oh man, your family must go waaaay back!

I've traced one branch back to England, but have hit a dead end because I don't know her maiden name. Everyone on the ship who was female seems to have been named Catherine. LOL! It's so much fun!

MTM was one of my favorite shows. We do have to make it on our own, don't we?! LOL!

  9. So intriguing about the genealogy! And, no, I can't sing the song but I LOVE Rhoda!

  11. I am addicted to the genealogy thing too. Every now and then I bang around on the internet and find another little piece of the past that wasn't there the last time I looked.
I can't thing of a more interesting hobby than peering into our past and our family's histories. I can trace 4 of my lines back to the 1600's and only wish I could go back farther.
    Happy hunting out there!
