I Hab a Code

Have I used this picture before?  Probably.
I haven't had a cold in a long time.  I have one now and it is one of those colds where I have to breathe out of my mouth and there are about 150 Kleenex's around me.  The good thing about being sick is I can read blogs and not feel too guilty about sitting on the couch in pyjamas all day long.  I did go and get some groceries.  Did I remember to buy chicken noodle soup or a new case of Kleenex's?  No.  I did not.  Now I want chicken soup and I have about 30 Kleenex's left which will last me about an hour.  Days like this I miss my mom.  She would have come over with soup and the nice extra soft brand of Kleenex's.  She would have done my dishes and put a load of laundry in the washer.

It seems almost everyone in blogland is talking about Spring.  It is still cold where I live.  No buds or blossoms anywhere.   It just keeps raining.  And if you think I need to buck up I can tell you that one can only take about 9 straight months of rain before going nuts.  Even the birds are in a bad mood.  I was watching them today and I saw them fighting.  Yes, I realize birds in hot climates do this too but I am convinced they are crabby because of the weather.

  1. Ugh all around. Feel better soon. And if you want to nurture your grouchiness, you should read one of my favorite poems by Edna St. Vincent Millay -- an anti-spring poem. I've posted it a couple of times and will do so again when the spring ejaculations just get too much to handle. :)

  2. Hey, thanks for your comments on my blog.. I was sorry to hear that you have a stinking cold today and hope you will feel a lot better.. My daughter and her family used to live in a suburb outside Vancouver and I loved visiting there, and then her job moved them to Toronto where they have been 7 years living in a place called Aurora.. I liked it there too, but Vancouver was specially lovely.. Its sunny today but cold, spring is starting to show up.. so hope the finer weather gets to you soon... you are right long days of rain makes everything even birds - scratchy!!!

  3. 2008 to 2010, I was cold free. Then it came in December 2010 and it was awful. I guess that's what happens when you get a long break.

Just endure it for and hope that it goes away quickly. Drink your chicken soup.

  5. Poor you.. colds are no fun. I hope you're feeling better before too long.

You might want to rethink the absence of spring in your area. Those fighting birds are a sure sign of its return. They're squabbling over prospective mates.

  7. Oh, Birdie. If you were here I would feed you some of my spicy garbanzo bean and cabbage soup I made last night. It's not chicken noodle, but it would clear out your sinus passages. For sure.
Get better. Spring will be there soon.

  8. Aww Barbara... how awful... sorry to hear you are under the weather... Onions can come to your rescue... yup believe it or not... peel an onion and cut it in half and then place it in the corner of your room when you sleep... it helps to suck up the germs and viruses... it worked with my daughter, she felt better the morning I after I placed them in her room. I thought I might as well try it after two days of having a high fever. I also tried peeling an onion, cut in half and with one half carve a small hole in the center with a spoon... so the hole is the size of a spoon... I put one spoonful of sugar and wrapped it in plastic for 12 to 24 hours... then drank the juice... and boy did it help. it sounds disgusting I know but hey if something works why not try it?
    Hope you feel better soon.
