I see a lot of people are posting a year in review. I have decided not to do that as it was hard enough to write the first time. Though I am glad I have it all written down. Death, like birth is a holy and precious time. One day I will look back and read my words. Or maybe not.
So...here is some exciting news! I applied for a permanent position at my new job and I got it. Even though I am the lowest on the seniority list of 200 people I got the permanent position because they were impressed with my interview and experience. The interviewer said I "nailed it in the interview". It will be working 3 nights a week with people needing to be hospitalized on put into extended care when a hospital bed is not available. It will also be caring for people who have had to leave the hospital early because the hospital needs the bed. I am so stoked about this. It is excellent pay. For the first time in my adult life I will not be living below the poverty line. I will get benefits too, oh yes I will. I have worked so long and many crappy jobs to get this and I am so glad.
I had a nice Christmas. It was quiet and peaceful. I loved on my new niece. She is sitting up now and then tips over. So cute.
I got a cold for Christmas. And a Sony Reader. I can't really figure out how it works yet but I did download one book.
So, now it is Boxing day. I am sitting wrapped in my mom's pink fuzzy robe. I will going to bed soon. I hope you all had a nice Christmas full of love, family and friends.
I hope that the New Year brings you health, family closeness and joy.
ReplyDeleteWith Love,
So happy to hear that wonderful things have come your way. Congrats on the job.. that's just terrific.
ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear you got that wonderful job. There's such a need for care for people who have fallen through the cracks of the stupid systems in place, supposedly to "help" people when they need it most. I have a feeling you'll do a spectacular job.
ReplyDeleteSorry you got a cold among your "gifts'. The Sony Reader sounds a whole lot more interesting.
Congratulations! Such terrific news and I'm sugared well-earned.
ReplyDeleteHi Birdie .. that's wonderful news - enjoy the job ... sounds very challenging but extremely valuable to many ...
ReplyDeleteLovely about your Niece - you'll have a great year seeing her and watching her grow ...
A cold - not so good, a Sony Reader - I suppose it'll be conquerable! Enjoy 2012 .. looks like the world is coming right for you .. cheers Hilary
Congratulations. There is a lot to be said for security. I'm still looking for it. Sending hugs for Christmas.
ReplyDeleteBirdie, Congrats on the job!!! And the benefits too, not to mention the good pay. From what you have written previously, it is apparent that your sensitivity and caring nature will help bring good care and comfort to those who need it.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter is a nurse and has been told that she is an angel -that her smile and gentle nature helps make the day a little easier. Who knows on any given day, who you will be an angel to; it is so nice to hear about someone following their calling and using the gifts they were given. Much Luck!!
Congratulations on the permanent and GOOD job!!!! I was so happy to read this. All smiles!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure that you absolutely deserve this job and they will be lucky to have found you. Warm hugs.
ReplyDeleteBirdie, I'm SO excited for you about the job!! :) Don't worry about the seniority, it'll come in time (of course) LOL! :) Sounds like you've had a lovely holiday & things are going well; you totally deserve it!!! :)

ReplyDeleteThinking of you over Christmas...glad to hear about the job....hmmmm I wonder what your Mom had to do with that???????....blessings for the New Year......
ReplyDeleteI am glad for you that good stuff is in the works.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you in not reviewing the year. I totally get your reasons. I also hear you on the "once was enough." Not to be non-reflective, but heck, it's all part of the story right now anyhow! You are an amazing person. Keep on, and may your 2012 be great.
Congratulations Birdie on getting the job, that's just fantastic. :-) Perfect timing too, and I just know that you will treat all those people with respect, dignity, patience and kindness. Nobody could want for more. I hope the job treats you the same way back.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear you have a cold. Sending you some cyber soup x
