And here I am back at work. Remember last week when I mentioned the home I was in was making me nervous and I thought it was an apartment with drug dealers? I am caring for the same person but she was moved because the situation got really bad and one of my co-workers was threatened and 911 was called. Apparently the tenant also shoved my client. (She is 90.) We have a fabulous union backing us up and have the right to refuse unsafe work environments so service was cancelled. Because my client needs 24-hour care she was moved into an assisted living facility immediately. It makes me angry that my client had to move after living in the same apartment for 30 years and not the neighbour but isn't that the way it always is? The rights of the criminals supercede the right of law abiding citizens. Anyway, she is safe now and that is the most important thing.

The home I am in tonight is so hot! Most elderly people keep their homes on the toasty side but this is well beyond toasty. It is 25 C in here!

My days off went so fast! Even with having a list of all the things I needed to do I didn't get everything completed. I had to reassess and put them onto next week's list. Though I love working 12-hour night shifts it can be difficult to shove everything that needs to be done into my days off. Fortunately my husband does more than his fair share around the house and my kids do very well managing on their own. They have been cooking and cleaning for many years now and don't need me to help them with tasks.

Well, my Internet connection is sketchy tonight so I am going to sign off before I get kicked off again.

  2. I am very glad that you, and your client are safe, but agree, it is soooo wrong that she has to move.
    Hugs.

  3. Awww that's sad. At least the client is in a safer place where she doesn't have to worry about such things. Sure, it's sad that she can't stay in her home, but maybe, if there's a bright side, she'll get to make friends in the new environment.

  4. I'm glad for your client; she will be able to have some peace for the reminder of her life... She must have been so distress to live in that environment even one where she spend so many years.

  5. The tenant also shoved your client and she is 90? See, that's why mankind's going down the drain unless we do something about it. I'm not kidding. Yep, that's the way it always is, Birdie. But I hope your client's happier now even if she and not the neighbor had to move.

  6. It is sad that your client had to be moved, but safety comes first. Who the hell shoves a 90-year-old woman? You have to sink pretty low for that.

  7. At least the situation could be resolved, even if it was the wrong person who was moved.
    Take care of yourself.

  8. A union?! Do you work for an agency? Or the state? I am self employed and have nothing. lol I love being self employed though. I did just sign on to work for a client who pays her caregivers through state funding and I guess I have a union through that.....but they pay so little, the mom is going to supplement my hourly wage out of their personal funds. Anyway, I am glad you are in a safer environment....hot though it may be. :o) Did you get my reply to your comment on my blog? I would love the CD's. My email is Lv4gves@comcast.net.Thank you so much!!
