Break forth into the Hallelujah chorus

I am finished my Christmas shopping, baby! I am three days past my self-imposed deadline of December 1 but that is OK.  The majority of it was done online so now I just need to put my feet up and wait for it to arrive. But here is a pisser.  I got my husband a very nice new coffee maker from Wal Mart.  Now, I hate Wal Mart.  I am anti-Wal-Mart and have not shopped there in years.  While online shopping I found the coffee maker I wanted for $30.00 cheaper than anywhere else so I caved. You know what those twits did?  They sent the coffee maker but it wasn't in a shipping box.  They just slapped a label on the product box and sent it.  Of course, my husband saw it.  Nice. Wal Mart only makes a billion dollars a day so you would think they could ship the item properly.  I would have even paid for the shipping box and recycled it.  Anyway, I am back to hating Wal Mart and won't be shopping there again anytime soon. It is my own fault for compromising my values.

Today I got a Costco card.  Does anyone else find shopping there almost orgasmic? Holy crap! I kept finding crap that I actually needed. And I had a kosher hot dog and a coke. Bliss, people. Bliss.

  1. And Costco pays a living wage and here in the US pays for decent health insurance, too.

  2. It's true! I just read a newspaper article about how Costco is a socially responsible employer compared to Walmart.

  3. I did most of my Christmas shopping at Costco. They have the best kids' stuff! They have the best stuff period. I heart Costco! It's the thing I miss the most about living in the sticks.

When my hub and I go for lunch at Costco, we always split a poutine and a hotdog and we each get a drink. It's like seven bucks! LOL! I love it!

Walmart is all we have in Peaceful Town and it sucks balls.

Do you live in the city on the Island that has a certain delectable square that originated there? If so, that city was on my shortlist of places I want to live.

  7. COSTCO has only recently (well this year) come to our city. And I have not yet succumbed - the concept of paying for a card and then paying for goods sticks in my craw.

  8. I always leave Costco with WAY more that I intended to! But it is so fun! My kids love all the food samples. I love getting my eyes checked while buying a new printer, all in one place!

  9. The problem with COSTCO is...that you have to PAY to shop there...
We go...but only for certain things...
    ANd especially the fries...DEELISH!!!
We buy the HUMUNGUS frozen bags of CAVENDISH X-CRISPY...
they are the ones they sell at the snack bar...
I find other people get great things, and when I go...nothing...

  11. I have a love-hate relationship with Costco. On one hand I love the prices; but every time I go in there I am blown away with the enormity of it all--the enormity of our consumerism. But, it doesn't stop me from shopping there!

  12. I adore Costco! I never before realized that I absolutely needed 10 lbs of chicken salad until I saw it there. Or 12 cases of caramel corn.
