Norbert, the U.B. (see side bar if you are new to my blog) is in full on "it's Spring!" mode. He is fixed but you would never guess. He cries like a baby so he can go outside. What the hell he does out there that brings him so much pleasure is beyond me. (humping things I have no doubt.) He is also trying to overthrow me by repeated assassination attempts on the stairs. He runs as fast as he can around the house with no apparent direction or purpose. I am quite convinced that when I get old I am going to die as a result of a broken hip because a cat tripped me. That cat won't be Norbert but it will be a cat. Evil. Pure evil, all of them! If I blog long enough one day everyone will wonder what happened when I no longer post. It will be because a cat managed to kill me. You would think I should choose to live in a house without cats but that is just silly.
These are my Groundhogs. Six more weeks of winter my friends. I was hoping it would come before May 21. But aren't they cute? I am missing some of the ones from the collection but I see e-bay has them. This is my only collection. They only get to come out once a year.
Anyway, I am going to go back to staring at the wall.

"Narrow Dog to Carcasonne" should appeal to your "cats as enemies" view of human/animal relationships. It is also extremely well written. I loved the descriptions of countryside and people encountered and each chapter stands alone so you don't have to get too serious about it.
ReplyDeleteGotta love a cat.. crazy as they are. I'm glad to hear you sounding more up, Birdie.
ReplyDeletewhen i need to laugh i read Janet Evanovich.. she is a freakin riot!
ReplyDeletewhoever should find you after dying from cat tripping needs to be sure and post a picture of your headstone...
"death by cat"
Read anything by David Sedaris for laughs. And if you can't read, listen to him reading his stuff.
ReplyDeleteOur Maisie is having a mad time at the moment. Fluff's an old man and stays close to the warmest spot all day. Barney complains that every time he goes out he gets cold feet. But Maisie - is behaving like an insane squash ball!
ReplyDeleteMan, you made me laugh this morning. Thank you for that.
ReplyDeleteI've been doing my fair share of staring at the wall lately too.
Now we can stare together.
I have never seen a groundhog collection before, but I am familiar with devious cats. I am not sure why we share out homes with the critters, but I guess it is because they still manage to be so cute once in awhile.
ReplyDeleteI sit here listening to the cats fighting through the cat door, which works on my last nerve, and totally agree with you. It will be a cat that does us in.
ReplyDeleteTry Sophie Kinsella. I don't snap up her books as the come off the press, but her work is definitely light hearted and entertaining. I'm more of a si-fi/fantasy fan when it comes to fiction.
LOL. The UB is too adorable to be an assasin...isn't he? ;-)
ReplyDeleteI love your groundhogs too althougn we haven't even had to the first sign of winter here. It has been crazy! Have a good rest of the week.
We are in deep freeze here, thus our cat seems totally oblivious and reluctant to the outside currently;))
ReplyDeleteLove the groundhogs.:)
Have a great weekend,
xoxo
Winter will pass! We will make it to the other side, and we will jump for joy with all the joy and heart of the people we love and have loved.
ReplyDeleteBirdie -- Looking at the cat photo on the sidebar -- I would say from the look on its face that he certainly has confidence in that gaze. Animals are great -- have had various kinds since I was young -- dogs are my preference now. Seems like most of this winter has been spring-like. Soon you'll be out in your garden -- barbara
ReplyDeleteI love your ground hogs.
ReplyDeleteYou have UB, I have re-Greta. haha
ReplyDeleteThey are evil and crazy, but we love them anyway.
I noticed Elizabeth mentioned David Sedaris and while I don't really know much of his work I have listened to him read a couple things and he's funny.
Aw, your groundhogs are sweet.
For mindless fun with lots of laughs i like any Stephanie Plum book by Janet Evonavicfh.
