Today I Should

I should get out of my robe and pyjamas.  I should eat something healthy for lunch.  I should vacuum the carpet.  I should put my clothes in the dryer.  I should change the sheets on the bed.  I should go get groceries.  I should go to the library and pick up my holds.  I should take a water sample from my hot tub to get tested.  I should water the plants in the green house.  I should brush my teeth.  I should pay the gas bill.  I should go by the Canadian Cancer Society and see if there is someone I can speak to about my dad.  I should unload the dishwasher.  I should call my dad.  (OK, I just did and he's not home.)  I should decide what I am going to wear this weekend to my Papa's 90th birthday (and another event that I have been sworn to secrecy not to tell.)  I should go buy my niece a gift for her first birthday.  I should mail my sisters birthday card.  (I guess I can do that later in the week.)  I should go buy my Papa some crossword books.  I should go pick up my prescription.  Wonder how many of these things will get done today?

Update - I did all of the above except going to the Canadian Cancer Society (ran out of time), get crosswords for my papa    (the store did not have large print), get my niece a birthday gift (my sister told me not to), mail my sister's birthday card (I will do this later in the week).

It's Monday, think of the list as a preview for what may get done this week...Although I suggest getting dressed, eating healthy and brushing your teeth..all the rest is come what may:)

  2. We don't do 'should' in this house. Should carries guilt. We do 'could'. And that way, we have a choice.

Whatever you choose, I hope you have a good day.

  4. Never say the 'S Word'!!! Not about yourself anyway. It's a 'direction' word to be used as such. Using it on ourselves is very unhealthy and puts too much pressure on.
I've avoided it for years now - so much easier.

  5. Doesn't it feel good to accomplish so many errands and tick them off your list in such a short amount of time? Well done!

  7. A lot of your "shoulds" Birdie were all about other people, how you care for those in your life. You are a good person, Birdie.

  8. *Get to* right?! Barf jk. I've had dishes in the washer for maybe 6 months now. They're clean, so hopefully it's not a sanitary issue, but it's still embarrassing. I don't mind doing dishes. Mostly i just do them in the sink (hand spa, baby!) But I don't really like putting them away. I should really get inspired i guess. Maybe i'll just wait til i can put them straight into a box when i move.

  9. I had things to do... and after I sat down and thought about it awhile, I decided they could wait for another day. I think I did one thing that needed to be done, but I realized that being Retired-For-Good I didn't have to justify my actions to anyone. You don't either. Even if you aren't RFG yet... you are in training to be. Hugs!

  11. I read that and I thought....did I write that...know the feeling, some days you just want to close the curtains, pull up the blankets and let the world rotate without you for a day.....hope you are doing o.k. I think of you often and have your Dad in my prayers. It has been a difficult few years....take care of yourself..

  12. You did really well.

Is 'Papa' your Dad? At 90 he is lucky to be alive! And you are lucky to have him. Don't spoil the time you have left by getting miserable about his health.

  13. I say we strike "should" from our lexicons and smile at the time of day. (Rule book? What rule book?)
